Differences between CPM and similar terms

CPC is a similar word to CPM.CPC is an acronym that stands for "Cost Per Click," and refers to the advertising cost per click on a web ad. CPM billing incurs advertising costs based on impressions, while CPC billing incurs advertising costs for each click, regardless of how many times the web ad is displayed. The formula for calculating CPC is as follows.CPC = advertising cost ÷ number of clicks generated on the adFor example, if there are 1,000 clicks with an advertising cost of 200,000 yen, and if there are 2,000 clicks with an advertising cost of 200,000 yen, the CPC amount will be as follows.CPC = 200,000 yen ÷ 1,000 times = 200 yenCPC = 200,000 yen ÷ 2,000 times = 100 yenIn this way, the more clicks you get, the lower your CPC cost will be. With CPC-based web advertising, you can not only increase the click-through rate, but also improve the cost-effectiveness by increasing the subsequent conversion rate.

eCPM = Advertising cost ÷ Number of times the ad was actually displayed x 1,000For example, with CPC billing, let's say that the advertising cost is 200,000 yen, the number of times the ad was actually displayed was 200,000, and the number of clicks on the ad was 1,000. In that case, eCPM and CPC will be as below.eCPM = 200,000 yen ÷ 200,000 times x 1,000 = 1,000 yenCPC = 200,000 yen ÷ 1,000 times = 200 yenIn this case of web advertising, CPC is cheaper than eCPM, so it would be better to choose CPC billing. In this way, by calculating eCPM, you can compare the cost-effectiveness of advertising and optimize your billing format.
