First, I should give some information about Google's internal departments. It is not very difficult to know or guess that Google has different Search Development departments for Maps, Knowledge Panel, Popular Products or Videos, but the same applies to the Fight against Spam. Each department within Google has a separate anti-spam section. There is also a team within Google Maps called MapSpam. You can find people working in this department via Twitter or Linkedin. The MapSpam team deleted a total of 4 million Google My Business Accounts in 2019. This is 1% of the total number of accounts. At the same time, 75 million fake reviews were also taken down in the same period. Google and Spam Detection Systems: Search Engine's Patents and Return to Practice, First Part, Local Search, GMB and Google in the Fight Against Spam Google takes stricter measures than Web Search to keep its Local Business Profiles real/quality. Imagine 3 million domains being thrown into the sandbox every year.

I should make a small note here. Since I know Google employees, I know that these comments are not actually deleted. So why didn't they delete it? If not deleted, what were they done with? At this point, you will inevitably understand some of the precautionary principles within Country Email List Google's Anti-Spam scope. Google and Spam Detection Systems: Search Engine's Patents and Return to Practice, First Part, Local Search, GMB and Google in the Fight Against Spam You can forward unnatural comments made for your Google My Business Account or made by your competitors directly to Product Managers via Google Support. Google uses artificial intelligence to detect and clean up fake reviews. In some cases, this inevitably requires caution for the health of Google and its search results, as the margin of error is high. Likewise, anyone can make a fake comment on anyone and make it look like they are spamming. (I used to use the same method for some Link-based Spam Alerts…) Google and Spam Detection Systems: Search Engine's Patents and Return to Practice, First Part, Local Search, GMB and Google in the Fight Against Spam This is information that I would not share under normal circumstances, but Joel Headley is one of the important names and employees of Google Map Search.

You can follow critical information and theoretical/practical developments for LocalSEO. He is also the source of information that fake reviews are stored rather than deleted. His last Twitter post is also quite interesting. As will be mentioned later, the obstacle to many websites being penalized by the Algorithm as Link-based is the possibility that malicious link works can make someone appear to be spamming. Therefore, the MapSpam team simply “hidden” these comments rather than deleting them. Thus, the ranking advantage or disadvantage created by fake comments was not lost, but only created a panic among account holders. The aim here is to protect account holders as well as not to create major imbalances in search results.
