As prosperity grows so does income inequality—everywhere. But in China where inequality has also worsened since 1991, income of the poorest has grown nearly twice as fast as in India. US has the worst record with the poor getting poorer over time

China is way ahead is everything. Indian basic infrastructure is comparable to third world and this is due to systematic failure of development policies over past 2-3 decades. India missed to capitalize on WTO. Gap between India and China was there even before but it started to widen very fast since WTO. We were and still are busy fighting internally over religion and caste, but world is not waiting. We should compare ourselves with Indonesia and Vietnam and even they are ahead of us in many indices. Sometimes it''s better to be not so secular and democratic.
