现在德国做assistant Professor，正在申请一个芝加哥大学的tenure-track instructor-professor的位置，不知过来后会是何身份？老婆和孩子又是何身份？绿卡什么的何时可以申请？多谢！

What will be your visa? Should be H1. Your family should be h4. After you get to Chicago, start to work, you can apply for green card right away. I think there is no waiting. 1. 有两种可能，你要么是H-1B签证，要么是J1签证。如果你是H-1B，老婆孩子就是H4；如果你是J1，老婆孩子就是J2。H-1B的可能性较大。

2. 绿卡申请随时都可以递交，主要看雇主是否愿意sponsor你办理。
