Good shot, especially the eyes.

I saw some portraits with half of the face totally in black. I tried many times but could not produce the effect. What's the trick?

Thanks for the encouraging comments.
A question for you guys. I didn't have the model sign a release. Is this OK with the current Chinese way of practice? I know it is not OK with the American photographic community.
This is one of the main reason why I have not uploaded the shots taken as far back as 2012.

As far as I know, if the image is obtain in a studio where a client/photographer relationship exists, then it depends on agreement with the client, generally not a good idea for one's business. However, if the image is taken in a setting public in nature, especially if the models participate knowingly in such a public model shoot event, you don't really need a model release as long as the image is not use for commercial purpose, like in an advertisement/endorsement.

Of course it is a good idea to take down the image if the model objects.
