国殇节（Memorial Day），又译“阵亡将士纪念日”，是美国联邦政府规定的公共假日，时间为每年五月的最后一个星期一，形成了三天长周末假期。国殇节长周末时逢夏季的到来，在商家折扣促销的同时，更是居民驾车旅行，探亲访友，各种夏日聚会的开始。

芝加哥国殇节游行

为纪念美军阵亡将士，芝加哥市政府将在本周六（5月28日）举行国殇节游行（Memorial Day Parade）。5月28日上午11时，将首先在市中心戴利广场（Daley Plaza，Dearborn & Washinton St.）举行献花仪式。游行将从当日中午12时开始，从Lake St & State St路口出发，沿State St. 南行至Van Buren St。
本次献花仪式及游行，将有美军陆军中奖肯尼斯戴奥（Lt.General Kenneth Dahl）担任游行统领。肯尼斯戴奥中将曾在伊拉克丶阿富汗战争中担任高层指挥职务。活动当天，肯尼斯戴奥中将丶芝加哥市长伊曼纽，以及阵亡将士家属代表将参加庄严隆重的献花仪式。
本届活动中，致力于退伍军人福利工作的伊莱威廉森（Eli Williamson）将获得“约翰罗根上将爱国勋章”。伊莱威廉森曾在伊拉克丶阿富汗服役，退伍后组建“不忘退伍军人”慈善组织，在帮助退伍军人就业方面贡献卓越。
芝加哥市的国殇节游行，自1870年以来每年都举办，如今已是全美规模最大的国殇节游行之一。国殇节游行免费开放，观看游行的民众鼓励乘坐公共交通。


海军码头首场夏日焰火表演

每年国殇节长周末，是芝加哥著名景点海军码头（Navy Pier）夏夜焰火表演的开始。本周六（5月28日，10:15pm）将是今夏海军码头的第一场焰火表演。此后一直9月3日，海军码头每逢周三丶周六都将有晚间焰火表演。
一望无际的密西根湖，璀璨耀眼的芝加哥城市天际线，五彩焰火，这是海军码头带来的芝加哥夏日记忆。赏海军码头焰火表演一个好去处，就是Museum Campus 沿线，即Burnham Harbor，从水族馆到天文馆的半岛沿线。除了在海军码头欣赏焰火外，也可以搭乘从这里出发的游轮，行驶到密歇根湖上欣赏焰火。华丽的晚装丶典雅的香槟丶静静的湖水倒映出璀璨的焰火，都是人们难忘的芝加哥记忆。海军码头地址为：600 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611。

海军码头全新摩天轮竣工开放

芝加哥著名旅游景点海军码头（Navy Pier），全新摩天轮将于本周五（5月27日）开始正式对公众开放。为纪念海军码头建成100周年，新摩天轮将命名为“世纪轮”（Centennial Wheel），同时今夏还将推出免费乘坐日：6月14日，6月28日，8月9日，8月23日，四天免费乘坐。
海军码头全新摩天轮，用42个密封可控温的独立座舱悬挂在高196英尺的巨大转轮之上，每次可搭乘414名乘客，相比之前增加了180位。而这42个独立座舱中有若干设计独特的透明玻璃座舱，可乘坐8-10人。海军码头原来的摩天轮，自1995年建成以来，已成为海军码头及芝加哥的地标，20多年以来，共接待了1700多万人次的游客。2015年10月该摩天轮退役，新的摩天轮开始建造。


密西根湖畔沙滩开放

芝加哥毫无疑问是一座内陆城市，但她拥有大海一样的密西根湖，丝毫不缺少沿海城市的风光与魅力。各种水上活动场所，由南至北丶大大小小分布在密歇根湖畔的沙滩就是夏天休闲的好去处。
从本周五开始（5月27日）开始，芝加哥市的湖畔沙滩正式开放。虽然目前气温还未到需要下湖游泳消暑的时候，但当你看到沙滩上的比基尼美女增多时丶沙滩排球的场地很难找到空余时，你便知道夏天终于到来了。湖畔的帆船丶皮划艇丶摩托艇等夏日水上运动也即将推出。休闲避暑丶沙滩排球都是芝加哥盛夏的热门休闲项目。进入盛夏的芝加哥，沙滩也自然成了人们出门的首选，届时芝加哥的各个沙滩将格外热闹。

湖滨大道骑车行

第15届“湖滨大道骑车行”（Bike the Drive）本周日（5月29日）举行，届时湖滨大道将全线关闭。风景如画的湖滨大道（Lake Shore Drive），上万人骑车享受密西根湖畔的晨曦，每年芝加哥人都以这样的方式迎接夏天的到来。
为配合“湖滨大道骑车行”，5月29日（5 am - 11 am），湖滨大道将全线关闭（北起Hollywood, 南至57街），周日上午驾车出行，注意避开湖滨大道。
“湖滨大道骑车行”活动，将从周日清晨5:30正式开始，上午10:15结束。主办方鼓励尽早入场，以保证有充足的时间骑完全程，最晚入场时间为当日早上7时。
鼓励的入场时间为5:30 am -7:30 am，当日上午9:30 am 以后将关闭沿途入口。活动的集中出发地点为市中心格兰公园（Grand Park，Columbus & Jackson St.）, 骑车路线可以向南或向北出发，单程路线15英里，全程30英里。沿途还将有多个加入骑行的地点。
