更严重的情况是，如果学分差距太大，或者多门课反复挂科，可能会触发学校的Academic Progress审核机制。要求学生参加听证会、写解释信，甚至强制你减少每学期的选修门数。如果进度还是跟不上，最严重的情况可能被开除。

·跨本申硕：

这种情况比较适合学生在临近毕业时间的情况下选择。直接申请硕士院校就读，学生能够继续获得就读机会。学生也可以选择更为简单或者适合自己的专业进行学习，拿到学位完成留服，并且很多硕士院校的申请通道也都持续开放，抓紧时间申请能够赶上最早的开学季。
