Dear Xingyu,Thanks to the Zombie Readiness Task Force—a student-run organization dedicated to zombie-apocalypse preparedness at the University of Chicago—our students can rest assured: the undead won’t catch us unaware.UChicago’s 400-plus student-run organizations provide undergraduates with untold opportunities. Students participate in Model UN, volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Club, and yes, occasionally run around the quads with Nerf guns, attempting to fend off their "zombified" friends. Others may be interested in playing inner tube water polo, honing their debate skills, increasing environmental awareness, directing a University Theater production, devising a sketch for the Off-Off Campus improv comedy group, or watching a movie screened by one of the nation’s oldest film societies, Doc Films. From the light-hearted to the rigorously intellectual, our student organizations allow our undergrads to think, create, and thrive. Now, it’s your turn: Compete in the Chairman’s Cup—a fierce broomball battle. Enjoy Summer Breeze, UChicago’s free spring music festival on the Quads. Create a working nuclear breeder reactor in under four days as part of UChicago’s annual Scav Hunt. Don taffeta, ruffles, and seafoam green as part of Club Rugby’s annual prom dress game. Strut your stuff for a philanthropic cause as an entrant in Kappa Alpha Theta’s Mr. University Pageant (ab-roller prep is optional).Discover all the extracurricular opportunities that the University of Chicago has to offer and consider becoming part of our talented, motivated, and zombie-fighting community. All the best, Chris Davey Assistant Director of Admissions
