Our organization is recruiting a law student for an internship this summer. Although this is an unpaid position, the student will deeply explore many law-related public agencies and organizations as mentioned in Bullet One. Few opportunity can facilitate a law student with that wide range of knowledge in such a short period of time.
Job Title: Legal Training Program Intern
Location: Chicago and Oak Brook, IL
Time: June 20 - September 15, 2014
Job Responsibility:
1. Within greater Chicago area, travel with a Chinese legal delegation for their shadowing program at the following agencies: Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Cook County Sheriff's Office, Safer Foundation, American Bar Association, IL Judge Association, US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, The Inspector General for the Attorney General's Office, Cook County Juvenile Court, Stateville Correctional Center, Sheridan Correctional Center and etc.
2. Consecutive translation between English and Mandarin Chinese whenever the delegates are having difficulty understanding during the meetings. Use the legal knowledge to help delegates understand the answers to their questions and try to explain the context of the questions.
3. Record and report the status of the delegation's shadowing program.
4. Reflect and report the major questions and thoughts of delegates.
5. Assist Program Manager in coordinating the shadowing program with the shadowing agencies.
Minimum Qualification: L.L.M. student or above; Fluent English and Mandarin Chinese. Good driving record.
